Displaying your Antique Dinner Sets with Pride
Nothing makes more of a statement than presenting lovingly prepared food on antique plates. You will reveal your passion for the past, and it will lend an elegance and more formal atmosphere to meal time. If your dinner set is worth a lot of money, make sure you have antique insurance. A wonderful occasion could turn very sour if a dish is accidentally dropped. If you had some kind of insurance, at least you would receive some kind of compensation for your loss. A grudgingly accepted apology along with a new found resentment directed toward the antagonist, could then be replaced with “Oh well, at least I’m insured”.
Standard content insurance will unlikely cover your antiques against loss or damage. Contents insurance will generally state a limit any one item can be worth in order to be covered. If you have a valuable object that is worth more than this limit, then that item will not be protected. Specialised antique cover is therefore required.
Once you have sufficient cover, you can feel confident enough to use your antique dinner set on special occasions without fear of damage. There is no point in having antiques if you cannot enjoy either using them or displaying them. Insurance will lend you some extra peace of mind and make you more relaxed using your valuables. Now there is no reason for these historical artefacts to gather dust in an old trunk in some dark cavity.
When it comes to displaying them in your own house, you can find a range of shelves and display cabinets for your antiques. Some of these have built in lights, but remember to be aware of any damage this could cause to your valuables. If you have children, it is best to avoid having your antique dinner sets within easy reach as they are more likely to get damaged. However, if you do want to use them, why not take them down for special occasions such as Easter and Christmas.
